Parents & Grandparents Program
If you are a permanent resident or Citizen of Canada and wish to bring your parents and/ or grandparents to Canadawith the objective of living with you as immigrants, you can apply for this program. If you submit the interest to sponsor form and you’re invited to submit a complete application, you stand eligible to sponsor your parents and grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada.

Eligibility to become a Sponsor
You can sponsor your own parents and grandparents provided you confirm to the following criteria:
- You are above 18 years of age.
- You are a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act and live in Canada
- You will need to meet the minimum funds requirement to be a n eligible sponsor. The fund requirement depend son the number of persons in your family plus the number of person you are planning to sponsor and their dependents.
- You have to provide the proof of your income.

Responsibilities of a Sponsor
- Providing financial support for yourparents and/ or grandparents forthe duration of 20 years, starting from the date they are granted permanent residency
- Repaying any provincial social assistance owned to the government, your sponsored family members get during that time
- You and your family members will have to agree to certain government terms during the agreement period.
- The sponsorship agreement confirms that you’ll provide for basic necessities of your sponsored family members
- The family members you undertake to sponsor should make an effort to support themselves.
- You will need to sign an undertaking and asponsorship agreement at the time of application.
Application Process
First, you have to fill up and submit an interest to apply form. After a random draw is conducted from the pool of received interest forms, invitations are sent to certain number of candidates. If you receive an invite to apply you have 60 days to submit your application as a sponsor and application for permanent residency for your parents and or grandparents at the same time.
